I have 300 gigs in movies alone, 100 gigs in TV shows and 50 gigs for photography... running out of space

 

Harddrives are so cheap now, I'm glad I waited to get another TB drive. I got a seagate 1tb drive rated for 1.4 million hours before hardware failure for $175.

 

If I did my math right thats like 160 years, for a part that will be outdated in 2 years.

 

Thats almost 160 years if it was read/writing 24/7.... servar grade! lol

I would like another 500g Maxtor OneTouch III so i could daisy chain them with firewire and they would match...

 

NICE! I never did the math I just figured it would be years but damnn. Yea it's designed for surveillance applications, so it doesn't have the fastest read and write speeds. I only use it for storing my video collection which grows every day.

EDIT: HERE is the drive I got, it's actually 1.2 million hours not 1.4. I don't know what I'm going to do without that extra 200,000 hours

 

Well it will only last for a 137 years then, its worthless.

 

lol.... read/write for video playback isnt that important since most videos wont go above 3mb/s for video and audio...
