What is considered the alternator dieing? My battery is about 6 months old and my lights dont dim however my volt gauge that is wired to my cig lighter does jump from 14 to 12 v every great once n awhile. Idk about the amps, the alt. is stock.
I do need to do the big 3. I forget what it is though.
And what is that glow thing called that charges your cap w/o sparking when you hook the amp back up?

Well I'm not familiar with the symptoms of a dieing alt. But a good alt should give you 14V+ any less any there is a problem, other than that I don't know. I do know a cap adds to the current draw putting an even bigger load on your alt, especially with the stock wiring. I have no idea what that is I've never installed or used a cap, they are only necessary on SERIOUS systems, but you know marketing...

What amps are you running that you feel you need a cap? You can't be over 1500w

Well I bought the subs, box, and cap for $100 from a guy I worked with before he turned into a grade a fat dbag! So, that was an amazing deal!

Shouldn't a cap reduce the load on a system? Acting much like a battery and holding charge they can give immediate power when my subs need it for log deep notes. So instead of the alternator suddenly trying to give the extra power, the cap should take a bit of stress off of that. Or is my thinking totally wrong?

I just have a single Audiobahn 1,000 w MAX amp. Its been so long I forget its actual rms.

Doesn't work like that, the cap is not a source of energy. It has to be filled with energy from the battery which is energy from the alt. Now even if it were an additional battery it would still end up putting a larger load on the alt, needing to charge two batteries.

Also a cap is just stabilizing the voltage, to do so it has to draw more amps to store enough energy to give off when the voltage drops. If your voltage is dropping low without a huge system you have an electrical problem, loose or corroded terminals most likely.

I just found this really old can of "AlumaGlow" my dad got it at a boat show prolly in the 90's. It's a "protective clear coat" for aluminum. I just tried a spot on the black anodized aluminum on my boat, and it literally looks like a clear coat. I'm tearing down all my hardware and give it a good coat of this stuff. I hope the company that makes this is still in buisness.

my laptop will last 30 seconds if not plugged in, and if i shut it and unplug it'll last 2hours, i could be mistaken but time for a new battery and ram and maybe a wax.

Church is the worst thing ever.

I would rather go to Canada than go to church.

Then it made it even worse that she got all pissy and started crying because I wasnt having a good time. Its like obviously I don't want to be here, I don't go for a reason.

Haha dude get rid of her, everything she doe is something I'd expect from a 14 or 15 year old. These stupid pointless and irrational expectations, and when they are not met it's the end of the world. Mommy and daddy always baby their daughters, and look what happens? They get these illusions and dreams that they confuse with reality. I would never date a girl that is still living with her parents unless she's proven her maturity. And it doesn't sound like this girl is going to let you beat, so at the end of the day what's the point?
