Because running 8ohms will be less efficient and show lower number. Becuase your sub is a dual 4 ohm you have no choice, you can either only run a 2 ohm or 8 ohm load since you only have one sub. 2 ohms will burn out the amp as it only supports 4 ohms bridged. 8 ohms will not hurt it at all, just won't get every watt from the amp. It will still see a lot more power than if you left it connected to only one channel.

Also running it bridged at 8ohms, and running each coil at 4 ohms on separate channels is the same exact power and load on the amp, just a different configuration. Having it bridged will put a 4 ohm load on each channel.

What speakers are in the front? I have my stock crossed at like 100 (R) and 120 (F) and I still get a little distortion at full volume, I think my sub is crossed at 80 or 100... because I have junky speakers and I'd rather get some more mids and sacrifice the bass these days.

Fatty, you listen to any Collie Buddz? Blind To You and Come Around are pretty good songs, worth a download me thinks.

LOL What speakers do you have? On my trip to the lake without my sub I set my speakers to full, turn the bass EQ up to like +4 and blast my music with ZERO distortion. My JLs love the real low stuff, anything below 50hz and it sounds like I have a small low power sub. They are lacking on the mid bass though, but do great with mids and highs. Collie buddz is alright, I think he is a little gay. But yeah those are the only two songs of his I consider good. You know he is a cracker from Bermuda right lol?

I wouldn't say that amp is gonna put out much more than 400 real watts bridged at 8 ohms, maybe less. But your sub is designed to run with low power, so it will be fine. Honestly it should be slightly louder than before, you just might come across some distortion especially in a sealed.

What to cross it at is personal preference and how your gear sounds with what. I wouldn't go past 85hz on that sub. Even that high can get pretty buzzy but that really depends on what you listen to. Try starting at 60hz and make your way up, and play a song with pretty high buzzy bass. For your speakers, take them as low as they will go before they distort. But there are other factors as well, I have my rears crossed higher than my front because any bass guitar sends my sound stage to the rear. So you have to keep that in mind as well, but there is no set rule. There so many different factors you've just gotta try everything. That's what SQ competitions are all about, not your gear but how you've got it dialed in.

Well there's your problem...

Pioneer makes good HU's and that's it. Their speakers, subs, and amps are garbage.

Well there is also a little thing called mid bass, your subs will never play snares nicely, and if your speakers are crappy they aren't going to sound so great. What makes a speaker good for HU power is not the brand, but be rated for 35w or less and at least 90dbs in efficiency. Those alpine type S aren't a bad choice for HU power, they even have silk tweets and not some textile BS.

Yeah I say that a lot these days, all these kids want to get by on HU power. But unless you have some real efficient and low power requirements the speakers will sound very dull and muddy, almost like if they are muffled.

Well I just got a new laser in one of my dvd drives, so my xbox is up and running again. Been a long damn time since I got my left4dead fix. Gonna fire the vape up, get mega ripped and get my gaming on

I hate bad company the movement feels so weird and the up and down camera movement gives me a headache even stoned. Red faction is a pretty sweet damn game, the multiplayer is really sweet. It has that simplistic yet fast paced awesomeness I loved from halo. I ran out of DL-DVDs so I haven;t burned anything new, I've got prototype, god father, and the new UFC game waiting to burn.

I leave my laptop plugged in all the time... I only use the battery when I'm away from an outlet. Sucks for battery health, but whatever. Apple Care FTW. I think my hard drive is gonna take a dump again soon, hopefully get it replaced before it runs out this January... along with another new battery. For free

My subs have been sounding sucky to me lately... a few songs have sent the amp into protection and I think it's because I adjusted the sub cross higher.... dunno. I think another factor has to be that I've been listening to 2 Kicker CVX subs half the time for the past week... those things bump pretty good, but I'm not all that impressed. They really only have cleaner hits and are a bit louder than my subs. I think if I monkeyed around with his setup I could get it sounding pretty damn good.

Turn Me On by Lil Wayne has a bass line that plays through both my speakers and my subs and the speakers distort listening to it... its such a good song too.
