One obstacle to buying another Accord
a little Honda / Acura history for you
Acura: Their first car came with just one option a manual or auto. that was it
The CL-S when introduced literally put the smack-down on BMW in terms of what a performance coupe was
The 2004-08 TL was arguably the LAST fun car Acura made to drive
the Honda NSX showed the supercar world what a reliable supercar should be
The Accord when it reached the 5th generation showed everyone what a family hauler should be like.
The 6th gen V6 was leaps and bounds above everything else offered in the 3L market. (excluding the most excellent Yamaha Cogsworth V6) It not only offered power but returned awesome fuel economy as well and set a new standard in quietness and lack of vibration
The 6th gen accord was also the beginning of the end for Honda's greatness in a family car. If you would have said in 2002 that the 03 accord sales would take a MASSIVE nose dive due to it's ugly design, you would have been laughed at.
If you would have said that they would drop their double wishbone due to costs, you would have been laughed at. First to go was the CIVIC and then the Accord followed.
If you would have said in 2000 that Honda V6 line would only advance about 65HP or so in 15 years while adding .5L capacity, you would have been laughe3d at. 3.2L made 260 HP old (about 247 under the new rating) current kind is 310hp in a RLX
If you would have said in 2008 that the newest RLX would offer a FWD option, you would have been laughed at.
If you would have said in 2000 that the next NSX would be a hybrid powered by a V6 when every other REAL outside of a porchse supercar is using a V8+ motor (porches use a BIG BIG BIG turbo V6 that puts out a staggering 550+HP)
If you would have said that Acura would take the RDX and drop the SHAWD entirely, and HID lighting on the base model, would have been laughed at.
If you would have said that when Honda released their new 4AT in 1998 that it would have been a dud due to bad design choices, you would have been laughed at.
If you would have said that Honda released their 5AT and it would have been the WORST transmission in their history, you would have been laughed at.
If you would have said Honda would use a DELPHI alternator in their 98-92 Accords despite their known reliability issues, you would have been laughed at.
If you would have said that by 2014 Honda would be involved in lawsuits regarding transmissions, speedos, brakes, etc, you would have been laughed at.
I am not basing Honda, I am telling exactly what has happened to them. They were excellent and a lot of people bought cars based upon experience with older ones and were not happy with what they got from 1998 forward.....
1994 accord 208K and 23 years, never replaced the engine or transmission. The only major repair I did to it was replace the outer left side CV joint at 133K way back in 2004. Sold it to my friend in 2006 with 168K on it and it finally suffered a fuel leak and it was not worth it to repair so now it sits, awaiting donation to a charity...
1998 accord V6, trans done by 86K
2002 CL type S (I love this car mind you) trans done by 71K
So they went from this

to this?

look how SHORT that bottom cushion is and how far forward that headrest goes... I am a short guy (5ft 6in and even my legs would be hanging off of the end of that seat...
and the Funny Thing Is that Honda can fix these problems easily.... put me in charge of Honda/Acura USA operations and I will return them to what made them great....
BTW I am and HAVE been a Honda owner for the last 13 years... just something to think about when you claim I am only basing them...
