Exclamation pulling broken down accord with tow rope

i have a broken down 1991 accord and i am wondering if i would be ale to pull it 4 miles to my house or if it would ruin the transmission

reason i was wondering my dad said that it would ruin some transmissions but some would be ok.

as long as you dont try to tow it in park, you should be fine... just go nice and slow. The reason it can hurt the trans to tow a car is because the internals are spinning with no fluid circulating through the trans... this is of course concerning auto transmissions... if its a five speed, you have no worries at all. also keep in mind that your brakes will not be that great since your booster will not be operating...

I once towed an automatic Datsun that had a bad motor that I was going to swap for a good one I owned. After the motor swap my previously good motor would not turn over at all. The tow had locked up the transmission. So if it's an auto you might consider renting a dolly. If it's a stick put it in neutral and tow on.

I would let my insurance company tow it to where I would want it just for the safety sakes...
