Default Sixth Generation Accords - most popular?

I was at the local Honda dealer's today, picking up some parts. I began to speak with a shop tech and he told me that he totaled his 1999 Accord, with a 5 MT and 170K. He said that the insurance gave him $5,800. for his car. Since he works for Honda, he was able to find a 2001 EX with leather and only 96K on it. He said that the 6th generation Accord is the most popular. Has anyone else heard that?

I would have to make an argument that the 5th gen is the most popular. They are incredibly affordable now(less than $2,000) and good dependable cars. They were also popular when they were new as there were tons of them made. But maybe I am just biased because I have owned two of them.

I believe that the point he was really trying to make was that the smaller Accords are more popular.

I would have to agree with that. You see far more 4th, 5th, and 6th gens around than 7th, 8th, or 9th. In the 90s the Accord really seemed to dominate the market over say the camry or sentra where as now its more even. I think its because they made the accord into the cruise ship size monstrosity that it is today. I know I personally would never own a newer one.

I think the 5th gens are a little more popular, could be wrong though. Isn't the 5th or 6th gen Accords also the most commonly stolen car in America?? I think that's true, because of how common and popular they are
