smell coming from vents/defrorst
For starters I'd pull out that cabin air filter, then turn on the heat and/or a/c and see if the smell is still there, make sure you don't have water, mold mildew or any of that gunk built up.... also, does it make a difference if you are on recirc instead of fresh air intake?
If the filterlooks & smells clean, that probably isn't it.
Opening the filter will give you another place to spray disenfectant so maybe you can get it into the blower & AC evaporator. That doesn't mean you have to LEAVE the filter out.
The cold evaporator condenses moisture from the air, so it's always damp. Mold & mildew LOVE that.
