smell coming from vents/defrorst

Default smell coming from vents/defrorst

need help!! just had my cabin filter replaced in my 2003 honda accord ex last week and now im getting a dead fish smell every time i turn on my vents or defroster. what could this be?????/

For starters I'd pull out that cabin air filter, then turn on the heat and/or a/c and see if the smell is still there, make sure you don't have water, mold mildew or any of that gunk built up.... also, does it make a difference if you are on recirc instead of fresh air intake?

That happed to and old friend of mine he did just what sir_nasty did pulled the filter and didnt get that smell so i suggest you try it.

I will try to take it out and run it. Is it the filter that gives off thatsmell???? I pulled it out and it looked brand new.......

If the filterlooks & smells clean, that probably isn't it.

Opening the filter will give you another place to spray disenfectant so maybe you can get it into the blower & AC evaporator. That doesn't mean you have to LEAVE the filter out.

The cold evaporator condenses moisture from the air, so it's always damp. Mold & mildew LOVE that.
