in the most recent issue of car and driver, there was a souped up oddysey...just a photo and a few specs, but it did look pretty good, i must say.

minivans are just as bad on gas as the suv's out there. everyone looks down on suv's but never at mini vans.

i disagree...
minivans typically get better gas mileage for hauling about the same 'space'
now, if you're talking AWD minivans, than i think you are correct.
