what have you done to your Accord today?
Been a while since I've posted; my welding classes are keeping me TOO busy.
Today I'm going to finally replace my exhaust manifold. It's been sitting in the basement for 6 months or so, and I'm definitely losing power because the crack is getting bigger
Stripped bolts on the underside, but I went out and got a set of bolt extractor sockets and a 25" breaker bar to take care of those. Shouldn't take much more than an hour to finish up once she cools down.

Decided to change the front down pipe exhaust myself!
Three nuts near the manifold were all rounded and seized!
Still decided to give it a go and I did, took me nearly the whole day and used 6 sided sockets (13mm) normal sockets, spanners, hammer and you name it
then finally it decided to give up and succeeded in undoing the 3 amigo!
then moved on to the middle section and OH MY GOD!!!! no chance! The nuts are actually melted down to the bolts.
Now I am thinking of getting myself a grinder tomorrow and grind the hell out of it.
I am still refusing to take it to the garage to do it as I am half way through...

I had my mobile mechanic friend over, and he changed the timing belt and the two tensioners. Took him about 3 hours as it was the first time he ever done a belt on a Honda Accord. Yep he deals with diesel trucks and 4x4! what a guy!
while changing the belt we saw the mistake of the previous mechanic/dealer mechanic as the old belt was a genuine belt, they didn't put a crucial bolt in one of the tensioner!
so yes I was setting on a time bomb that could have gone wrong any time.
Glad it is changed and all sorted now
oh while at it, he chopped off the three bolts of the exhaust, so all ready to fit the new exhaust down pipe tomorrow.

My daily pride and joy is back on the road!
YAHOO!!!!
put the new exhaust down pipe. First click and it bursts into life. Drove it to pick up my girls from school and it drove really sweet!
So the Cambelt and the exhaust down pipe changed now. Next job is just a service...

Check that bolt on the tensioner. There's a place for a bolt, but NOT SUPPOSED to be installed. Not sure right now, but I think it's at the large elongated hole on the left side of part #14 - balance-belt tensioner.
You put a bolt in there to hold the tensioner with some slack. When you re-assemble the engine, you remove it and ONLY use the outside nut, #21.

So what happens if the bolt in question is left there Jim?
