Default Power Steering Leak

1998 Accord LX 4 Cyl automatic - 185,000 miles

There is a small leak in a hose near the bottom of the radiator. It is part of the power steering line. I plan to replace the 3 rubber hoses and the power steering reservoir. When I remove these hoses, can I get an air hose and blow out the power steering fluid that goes to the pinion rack? I just want to replace the fluid while I am at it. If not, is is OK to just add new fluid and then it is about 25% old and 75% new?

My opinion, replacing the lost fluid with new Honda/Acura approved fluid will be fine.

For me when the PS fluid is due, I just remove the reservoir and dump the fluid in it. Clean it with the proper cleaner and then refill with fresh Honda/Acura PS fluid.

You can flush new fluid thru it. Take off the return hose at the pump. Remove the efi fuse. Point the return hose into a drain pan. Fill the reservoir and keep it filled. Crank the engine incrementally until clean fluid comes out the return hose.

I like to add a clear tube to the return hose to extend it into the drain pan. You can get em at Home Depot. Just tell em you want to make a beer bong and they'll know where to look. Use the honda ps fluid. I think I needed 2 pint bottles...
