2000 accord lx
Hey guys.. need some tips here.. my 2000 accord lx had some bad thumping over bumps about 6 months ago.. so I determined that the pass. strut was the culprit. which it was. .. Now I noticed it again.. only it seems to be coming from the rear.. so I started pushing down on the trunk and it is really loud back there.. All bushings check ok, the struts are almost new.. and nothing really seems lose. Any Ideas? I dont want to replace the struts if I do not have to.. my gut tells me to look else where beyond the struts
yep, only problem is, they are 100% fine. Acutally they look pretty new, but have zero play, have zero wear.. I know it is hard without seeing it, and something has to be wrong, but I can not find it.
Check the top nut on strut. I had a neighbor with exactly what you are describing and come to find out he used hand tools to tighten down this nut and it doesn't really work that well unless you have somebody with a locking wrench or whatever holding the strut rod.
I used a my air impact and it spun maybe 2-3 rotations and voila, clunking gone.
