Default Engine oil change

Ok so my accord sport is almost ready for its first engine oil change. It recommends every 4 months or 5000 miles but also has an oil life sensor which is still at 40% still. My 4 months is in a couple weeks and I'm only at 2800 miles. My question is should I wait til my service light comes on or go by the 4 months 5000 miles. I don't want them try saying I'm not changing it on time and try voiding my warranty if something goes wrong,

Where are you reading the four month or five-thousand mile oil change recommendation?

The recommended oil change level is not specified at 4 months or 5,000 miles. The car has the maintenance minder. 40% on the maintenance minder means the calculated oil life left is between 40 to 31%.

Your car came with Honda's 0W-20, which is full synthetic.

In addition, the factory-fill engine oil has molybdenum (“moly” for short), a special lubricant applied by the factory to critical engine components during assembly. So, it is not recommended to change the factory fill oil until the recommended maintenance time. -- Just be sure to check the engine oil level and top off as necessary in the interim. You can wait to change the engine oil.
