I sanded my wipers. and they turned silver.
So do i HAVE to paint them now?
Dad says they will oxidate(sp) if i leave them like tht. True?
And if i sanded down really well, can i spray paint with now primer, or is primer a must?

well now that you sanded it down its bare metal which probably would rust or oxidate somehow. primer isnt really an absolute must but its a good thing to do. itll only take a little longer like an extra dollar or so and it might come out better

Primer is before the paint to prep the surface, Paint is your color, clear coat goes on at the end to give it a deeper shine. If you aren't going to remove them to paint them then cover your hood in newspaper, tape up the rubber blade itself and cover the windsheild/side runners (either side of the windsheild) as well. Otherwise a tiny breeze could kick up and give you a nice little speckling of silver all over your dark car.

Doing primer before the paint is the best way to do things, however, you could skip that step and it would probably look just fine it just won't hold up as long or have as true of a black color and may require an extra coat or two

If your gonna do sumthin...do it Right and dont half A$$... Take the wipers off the car, hang them in a place where you wont have to fight the wind, prime them, (light coat that covers completely)....wait an hour or so and paint it (let the first dry and then do a second) dont paint too heavy or it will run, light even strokes,,,,let that dry completely and then put some coats ofclear on it. (2 to ensure even complete coverage).....let it dry..put ur blades back on...then put the whole assembly back on the car....and ur done!

Im just goin to add the prime or clear coat. The metallic color it has looks nice, so no need to paint them. Im just looking for the simple way to preserve the wiper now tht i sanded it.

I cant take the wiper off. Arm or blade. Im useless in the department!!

well if you like how it looks now just cover everything well and use clear coat only cause primer is actually gray/black/white but usually a dull gray

If you want colors, why not go with a Silblade or something like it that comes in the color that you want? Silblades also have a 5 year warantee.
