Default 04 in need of stereo upgrade, few questions...

Ok so last year I purchased a 2004 Accord DX, my fourth, and nicest Accord to date. Each Accord I had before this one was preowned by people with similar tastes in stereo head units. My new 04, however, only has a factory, single disc, am/fm unit with no mp3 playback or device connectivity. I'd like to upgrade the entire audio system, but I'd of course like to start with a head unit. So here are my questions:

I know what kind of mounting kit to purchase for the car to fit a standard aftermarket unit, but are they easy to remove and install? Or is it something I should pay someone to do? If so, any recommendations on where I can take it?

I love the interior look and feel of the 04, and I'd love a unit that matches the flow. Have any 04 owners gone aftermarket? Any suggestions on reasonably priced and featured units?

I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions, thanks!

Dash kit that gives you A/C controls

manual with removal instructions:

You also need a wire harness adapter:
Metra 70-1721

It's easy for people with the proper tools and experience. For a novice, it will take a lot longer and require purchase of tools.
