Default Pictures Of My Audio Settings

Hey folks - I figured I would share these two pictures of my sound settings. Still definitely not optimal, but I seem to be getting a "little" (and I use that word lightly) better audio from these adjustments. I'm driving a coupe, so this may not work for sedans.

Bass and sub all the way up, treble down where comfortable for you, but the real difference has been fading the sound to the back of the car. This allows me to turn the volume up higher, extracting a little more bass, but not killing my ears with the tweeters.

Definitely NOT a fix, but it might be worth a try for those really suffering. YMMV...

I started driving my new 2013 Accord on Monday, Dec. 3. By Wed. I encountered the problem 3 times. The problem is intermittent and not repeatable. I took the car to my dealership on Thursday. Although the dealership was unaware of the problem, Honda technical support was aware of the problem. Tech support is working on a software update to solve the problem. The dealership estimated mid January for a fix, but they will call as soon as it is available.

For those of you with smartphones download a frequency spectrum analyzer. There are a bunch of them and they are free. It will show you what we can hear, how poor the frequency response is of the audio system in our cars.

Not to poor salt on the wound, but I also have a 1991 Nissan Sentra that I bought when I was 18. It took me years to upgrade the stereo on that car. Ultimately, I was able to afford at the time a Coustic 50wx4 amplifier, inexpensive Pioneer component speakers for the front, and coaxial speakers in the rear, recently coupled with a $69 Sony CD player (to replace the one that died). Coustic and Pioneer are by no means high end audio brands. I recently got the car back from the shop and I was amazed at how good that old cheap system sounded, and how loud it played. If anyone from Honda is reading this, I invite you to come to my home and listen to my 18+ year old audio system in my 21 year old car. Only 200 watts from a cheap amplifier and it blows away the 360W 7 speaker premium audio system in our Accords. Something is not right.

russlittle,

My first problem was the "system" locked up. A previously selected FM station continued to play but no other station could be selected. The source could be changed but presets were not displayed nor selectable. Only the Audio Control Screen was used during this event. Since this device includes a radio, HandsFreeLink, HondaLink, Audio Touch Screen and display, etc., I consider it a system problem.

The second encounter occurred when I was choosing XM Radio stations for presets. I was scrolling through the list by turning the radio dial, making selections and setting presets. At first there appeared to be a lag in the response of the system. Eventually the system locked but after about a minute it caught up or cleared itself. Since this could have been an XM satellite issue, I was reluctant to tie this to the first problem although the experience was the same.

The third problem didn't really have an identifiable trigger. While using the system I noticed a slight lag on the display and then a loud screeching noise coming from all the speakers. The sound from the radio was still faintly audible. I was able to use the Bluetooth controls and successfully complete a call but the noise drowned out the dialogue. Turing the radio off and then on did not disable the noise. Only turning off the car and restarting resolved the problem.

My next call was to the dealership and then I started researching the problem and that's how I got here.

I had the audio issue again, (high pitched noises along with the music) just decided to check if it was still a problem with CD audio, and yes, it doesn't matter what source you are using for the audio. I've checked all of them now, once you have the high pitched noise, you have to pull over, shut off the car, and start it again. Seems to be the only workaround.

So, yesterday I was fooling around with Aha radio and was shocked at how much better it sounded. Don't know what's up with that, but when I went back to AM/FM/XM, it was back to sounding poor with little to no bass.

Default 2013 Accord Nav

I purchased my 2013 EXL-V6 on Nov 30th and use the Nav for the first time on Dec 4th, upon initiating the system it stalled the shut off. Once it reinitiated on its own I saw it flicker and freeze where it did not restart, and my Bluetooth on a Verizon LG Revolution will not pair at all. I called the dealership where I purchased the car and they were able to duplicate the problem, upon calling the manufacturer it was determined that a new nav system was needed. I am scheduled take my car back in on Tuesday the 11th for the repair, but I am now very skeptical with the reliability of my car after reading the multitude of problems coupled with my issues. The service rep was very upset that this 2013 Accord with 112 miles on it was back at the dealership for service; thus he worked very hard in resolving my issue, like I said we'll see on Tuesday.

Can the programming for the Nav be programmed for quickest time?

As far as the mechanical reliability, I am pretty confident in Hondas, which is why I purchased this car. My dad has a 2010 Acura TL with the Tech package and has not had any technology or mechanical related issues whatsoever. I previously had an Acura RSX Type S and never had the car into the dealer for a single issue. There is something going on with the nav/entertainment package with the 2013 that I believe Honda will have to fix. If they do not, the internet and potential legal issues will do far more harm then it is worth for them to ignore this issue.
