I joined the forum just to keep tabs on this thread. I was about to buy a new '13 Accord EX-L in the next few weeks. This is making me pause big time!

I tweeted @HondaCustSvc a link to this thread and they want me to DM my issue to them. ...ummm READ THE THREAD! Everything is described there.

update:

Honda Customer Svc @HondaCustSvc
We believe a software update is being finalized to address these concerns. ^RR

Binu Rao @BinuRao
When is that supposed to be released? I Plan on buying 2 hondas in the next month and if this doesn't get resolved, I'm going elsewhere

Honda Customer Svc @HondaCustSvc
It should be released around the start of March ^RR

Every time you speak to someone from honda they tell you an "update will be out soon". Been hearing that since mid-December and 5,000 miles ago. I spend 2-3 hours a day in my vehicle. The crappy audio system and all the problems with the vehicle destroy my day.

if it really "destroys" your day, you could just overhaul the entire stereo system. I understand the frustration of buying something and the fact that it should work but doesnt. But if it were making my life so bad that every day was destroyed, I think I would do something about it. something besides calling honda, who you should know by now are not going to fix it anytime soon.

While I think the word "destroy" is a little much, I have to agree.
Every time I get in the car and turn on the tunes, I'm reminded how poor the sound is.
There's no way a $30k car with a so called "premium sound system" should sound this bad. Saying he should have to replace it to get good sound is nonsense.

Hopefully Honda fixes our issues. But I'm not optimistic.

Okay, here's an update:
I was actually able to get my Navigation to crash on command by trying to enter a certain address. Wonderful for showing the tech at my dealer the problem first hand - they really were impressed. And to be able to have it do this over and over (also hanging repeatedly) was great. They took the car in again ( second time for this complaint) and called me back in a few hours. They informed me they were ordering a new Navigation unit (Alpine?) and was having it shipped directly to them. Unfortunately, mine was at the moment stuck in "Diagnostic" mode and they could not get it out. Pretty commical if you ask me for a $2000 piece of equipment.
Well the unit came in yesterday, they called my wife in the morning and asked if she could bring the car in. Yes, she replied, if they can supply a loaner car. No sweat, you can wait, should only take 15 minutes. Well, it took 2 hours of waiting. We really wonder what was going on in there. My wife did not ask, but now I know for the future. Anyway, closeout paperwork states replaced navigation unit. As for Bluetooth problem cutting out audio, they also state 2 weeks for software fix to come in as of yesterday. And, the growling noise I hear/feel in my transmission/engine at 30-34 and 45-48 mph will be looked at by a regional Honda rep who visits once a month to that dealer. Today Im going to use the Navi for the first time and see how we did. Will keep the forum up to date. Cheers, Pbass

I think you missed my point. I didnt mean he should have to replace it. my point was I would not be that unhappy every day of my life and not do anything about it except post on a forum and call people on the phone. that was my point.

also the "premium sound" in a car is always a waste of money. you will never get "premium sound". save the money you would spend at the dealer ship. buy some quality aftermarket equipment and you will be a lot happier. whether you put it in or you go to a stereo shop, you will get better results..

I dont think that you should have to replace a stereo in a car. it should come functional, but if honda isnt going to do anything about it, then he, you, and everyone else is gonna either have to suck it up, or fix it themselves. if it is anything like past honda problems there will be a solution for the problem in about 5 years. if you want to wait that long, then have at it.

I couldn't disagree more on the premium sound. My 2011 F-150 system (SONY) sounds awesome! I've also been in my friends Nissan and his sounded really good as well. There's no excuse in 2013 for it to sound this bad. Like I said, our 06 sounds better.
Obviously, by the posts in this thread, I'm not the only one who feels this way.
Oh and by the way, I don't think we need you to tell us to suck it up. That won't help get anything done. And maybe Honda won't fix it, but at least we can try.

I spent $30K plus on this car with certain expectations. I don't think asking for a good sound system is unreasonable.

And I really feel for the people on here who spent the $2000 to get what they thought was a kick *** nav system, only to realize that it performs worse than the $200 ones you can get at Best Buy.

Btw, do you work for Honda?

Default 2013 Accord Audio and Bluetooth

I just paired my HTC EVO with the Bluetooth and it locked up my audio system. In addition now every time I get in the car the system tells me it failed to download the phone log. Is there something I am doing wrong?

I do not work for honda. I am not telling you to suck it up. I am saying to be realistic. Honda does not have the best track record when it comes to helping solve issues. recalls always take forever to come out.

what I am saying is dont say things like it destroys my day. What I am saying is again, to be realistic. it may also help when talking to honda to be realistic.

Instead of saying hey honda your car stereo destroys my day and I want you to give me a new car. try Hello honda, I am unhappy with the stereo in my car. I paid the extra money for the premium sound. I have found that many others are having this same problem. I do not think that it is right that I paid this much money for a car and it has this issue. what can be done to solve my problem.

and then when they say we are releasing an update in march that should solve the issue, wait until march to start talking about how they are unwilling to help. They have horrible customer service and because your radio doesnt work and honda did not give you a brand new car you will never buy a honda again.

That is what I am saying. and again not necessarily directing this at you but to everyone who is posting again and again the same thing. to the guy who says the customer is always right. that is the biggest load of crap any business can sell you. I have worked in retail and sales before and I can tell you the majority of the time one of the first things they tell you in training is the customer is rarely right.

I am saying try to go about finding a solution instead of slinging mud and getting all upset.

I understand that a car stereo should work. I am not stupid. I also understand that bitching on this forum is not a solution. believe it or not, I am trying to offer a solution that would solve a problem that is destroying someones life aparently. I am saying that if an issue is that bad that I would find a solution so I was not mad every day. I do not like to live my life unhappy. But waiting on honda means that every day he waits he will be unhappy. it is his choice how long he is willing to be unhappy. But if the issue were as bad as it is being made out to be. I personally would solve the problem.
