Default Bass ****

I just got my hands on a Hifonics BXI160D. It comes with the bass ****. i kno how the bass level is on amps (Never have it turned to max or try to avoiding using it. Or keep it tunned low).
My question is. on my amp i have the bass level on 0. then i connect the bass **** and put it on max. its loud! sounds good! is it safe to have the bass **** on max while the level on my amp is on 0? i unplugged it for now to be on the safe side.

Weird, something else i noticed, the power light on the amp dims once i plug in the bass remote. Does it draw that much power?

Don't take this as gospel as I don't know the exact rule. I have mine set all the way max, but my HU has a S/W out and I usual keep my bass at -1 and my sub at half, and up to about 3/4s when I want some more bass, and full if I have to prove to someone a single 12" can have more ***** then their dual setup.

If your HU doesn't have a sub line out, then what I would do is set the bass **** to almost full, say 90% and reset your gain. Then use the **** to turn the bass down not up, you know what I mean?

The max on the **** should be a tad bit shy of max on the sub before it distorts.

My HU has a S/W preout too so I just use the **** on the deck to go from 0 to +15 with the bass.

Oh and I kind of phrased my last post wrong, when I said to set the **** on the amp to reset the gains, once you plug the **** in it overrides the **** on the amp. Maybe you should even set the **** to 100% when setting your gains, so just in case you ever go past 90% with the **** you won't risk clipping.
