Both a class D and class AB are just fine for powering a sub. The only reason they use class D amps for subs is because theyre more efficient. A 2000 watt D amp will be much smaller than a class AB amp. You wont be able to hear a difference between a 2000 watt AB amp and a 2000 watt D amp powering your sub.
