Angry 1993 exploded engine, trans ok?

Well, my stepson had been using my old Accord after he let his get repo'd. It got an exhaust leak that he didn't tell me about. So he couldn't hear the engine making any noises, which it had to of been. He said it started running terrible and had it towed home. I started it but couldn't hear the engine over the exhaust. Checked the oil and nothing on the dipstick. Took 4 quarts to get a reading. He said 3 weeks before he had to put 3 quarts in it, but hadn't checked it since, or told me. I patched the exhaust leak (pretty recent complete exhaust, but idiot at the shop welded one of the supports to the pipe too hot making it so thin it ripped out). Maybe if my stepson had told me about the exhaust leak, I could have fixed it and maybe he would have heard the engine? (sarcastic question) Started the engine and it was running rough, then stopped with a sudden clang/boom. Push rod on number 3 sticking through the block behind the exhaust manifold. A good 5 inch chunk gone. I dropped the pan. Both rod bolts were stripped bare of threads. Tons of bearing shavings in the bottom of the pan. So, engine is junk. My issue is the auto trans. I put it in neutral with both front off the ground and the drivers side tire won't spin for nothing. I wonder if the sudden stop damaged something in the trans maybe? What are your thoughts? I think it might be time to strip off all the new parts from the last two years and send it to the scrap yard.

I believe that is normal. Only one wheel pulls, so one stopped is not a problem. Unlikely engine failure would damage trans in any case.

If car is in decent condition otherwise, a replacement engine might be a better solution, but if other problems, probably best to let go for parts.

good luck

Taps played Saturday and she went too soon on the back of the tow truck to the salvage yard. Such a shame. Only 216,000 miles. If I had been driving her, she could have easily gotten 350,000 or more. I told my stepson he owes me $2,500 for his stupidity.
