i would get the moldings.
Personally, I hate the moldings on my car, but thats because their black when the rest of the car is tan. Its like the uni-brow of my car.
I think I might try to paint them when I fix the small amount of rust creeping in on my rear passenger door...

Reminds of a story...
One time this annoying girl pulled up next to my friends truck (hot, but annoying) and opens the door of her car and slams it into his truck. She gets out of her car and looks at it like "crap... oh well not my car". We see it happen from inside the building. An hour or so later, when we have to leave to go a different school we inspect it. She left like a 1/4 long by 1/16 tall scratch through to the body, and a fair sized dent. He was pissed. So after we come back from our other class we take his emergency window-break hammer and try to dent her door. it went BOING and bounced off the body, like it was a bouncy ball... then we tried to slam the door of his truck into her door, but it hit the molding! and his truck is high off the gound! she drives a pontiac grand am/prix. In short, if you dont want dings, buy a grand am/prix.
