'97 LX having oil issues/fuel MPG
Yeah, I really do like the way the car looks and intended on keeping it for a while. If I had to, I'd replace the engine because the car is in perfect condition besides the oil issue. Besides, I'm 20 with student loans.. so I can't just go scrap it and buy another like some people apparently can.
@corvetteking; I agree with you. My dad is a mechanic, but he's not familiar with anything but American-made. I'm sure as long as he got instruction, he'd pick it up real quick! So there's my easy fix, just figuring out what the issue is you know!!

Im with yah on the anything but american made...Lol...My first import project was my celica, and heaven forbid it took forever to finish... The basics are all the same, its just the little stuff that got me... Like the god awful Idle air temp sensor, that didnt get hooked up due to an aftermarket intake before the turbo set up, took us 3 months to figure it out, and then we looked like a bunch of idiots when the mechanic came over and said "hey you know this isnt hooked up" after us checking everything 20 bizzilion times...Lol... Well good luck, and hope you can get it fixed...
If you know where to look cars are not hard to come by. Being a scrapper, I come across a lot of cars that have broken down and sitting in the same spot for years. The owners usually want them gone. That is where I come in with my car haulin' trailer that i built. Anyways, I hope your dad is a ninja mechanic, and I hope he loves you enough not to scrap that car (95% of American mechanics would). Good luck.
If you're going to swap engines, a great investment is the REAL shop manual. Get it from www dot helminc dot com.
It's a pricey book, but swapping the engine is a big enough job that all the detail in that book makes it worthwhile. Your dad doesn't have to know anything specific about Honda if you guys have that book.
