F22b2 to f22b1 swap
I have a 1996 accord lx with the f22b2 non vtec 2.2 and I'm wanting to take a vtec f22b1 2.2 out of an ex accord of the same gen and I was wanting to know how easy and what would I need other than the ecu and wiring harness for the vtec?

That 5th gen is split between OBD-1 and OBD-2, so you'll want to get a 96 or 97 donor in order to stay OBD-2.
I'm not sure if you'll need the wiring harness back to the ECM, because the LX harness might not be fully populated for the VTEC stuff.
Are you in California or someplace that makes it difficult to register a swapped engine?

I'm just thinking about all the other stuff related to converting an OBD-2 car into OBD-1. Pretty sure the pinouts at the ECM are different so you'll need more wiring harnesses from the VTEC donor car to do that IF the donor car is 1995 or older. Distributor is different, CKP sensor in a different place, etc.
I've also heard of just changing the head. People have certainly done that, but I don't know much of the details.

dealing with this now, how did it turn out ?? I have a 96accord f22b2, trying to swap a 97 engine f22b1 in it. Unsure if I’ll need a new ecu and harness because of it.
