Default H22 swap questions...

OK so i think im leaning towards the h22a instead of turboin my f22 lol. i have questions. i know the driverside mount needs modified or get the hasport. is that all mount wise? are the axles compatable from both engines? what about radiator hoses? can i use an f22b2 aem intake on the h22? my biggest concern is the wiring harness. how hard is it to modify the f22? can i use the h22's harness? also what about computer? use h22 or can i chip the f22? sorry its so much thanks if any can be answered.

The driver side one is the only mount that has to be modified, I recommend buying the Hasport one though, alot better idea to just replace the 15 year old motor mount.

You have to get prelude radiator hoses(also a good idea to just replace the old radiator hoses)

You can use your AEM intake.

Its not hard to modify your F22 wire harness, there are tons of guides online of how to do it.

You would severely regret trying to use the H22 harness. It can be done, just not easily or while having fun.

Ah forgot about the ECU bit, there are tons of ways that can be done, since you are OBD1 the options are a lot better than if you were trying to run OBD2. If I were you personally I would just get the ECU out of a 92-96 H22 prelude. I forgot the code for it, its probably a P13.

The header is longer on the H22, and doesnt bend quite right. Any exhaust shop could easily fix this for you. If you want to run a catalytic converter I would get a high flow one designed for the H22, then bring it to a shop and have them make the exhaust line up.

If you decide you dont want a cat it makes it a tad easier to make the exhaust up, as they just have to make a 11inch or so test pipe with a slight bend in it.

If you have a stock motor there is no need for a dyno tune with the stock ECU. If you do a fair amount of upgrades its not a bad idea(esp if you upgrade the cams which I will get to in a minute). They arent that expensive(Mine was $300), you get a good tune and get any extra hp there is to be had, and know exactly how much you make.

Camshaft upgrades are definitely worth it, you can gain good amounts of hp with them. You just have to decide how extreme you want to get with the build. I'm guessing its just your street car that you drive to work or school or you grandmas house or whatever, so I wouldnt go all too aggressive(also more aggressive cams require upgraded valve trains which get expensive). I would recommend Skunk2 tuner series stage 1 or 2. The pro series would be too aggressive for daily street use. I would also upgrade a cam gear upgrade with any camshaft upgrade.

ok sounds like i got a plan in action. thanks a lot i appreciate the input. now the trial time of getting the money together and finding one lol. i need not empty too much on the engine. ill probably not worry about cams right away. how much would shipping cost from that good store you mentioned. long block is 1050. ecu = 200

I'm not sure as I was not smart enough to order my motor from there. I would guess anywhere from 100-300, but I cant be sure. I would give them a call and I'm sure they could help you out. And you may be able to get the ECU for cheaper elsewhere.
