I recently replaced the pitiful batt that came with my new coupe. I was surprised how small it was. My new batt is a Cabella 945 CCA batt - marine dual purpose (meaning it is a starting and deep cylce batt all in one). I am fabricating a bracket. Until then, heat proof 175# zip ties will do nicely. Since installing this batt. the "flicker" from the headlights is non existant and only a very small dim occurs with the A/C cyling.


But here's what I mean about Honda getting cheap with the batt. The Honda batt is 410 CCA or 430 depending on engine. The tray the engineers created is for a std group 24 batt but they put in a small one and a plastic filler. The accountants won this one over the engineers, IMO. Both are ridiculous for a electronically controlled vehicle. Other cars are bigger.The BMW128 has a 710 CCA batt but I assume someone will say that "yeah, but look how much they cost"...ok....so I took a walk down to my local Suzuki car dealer this morning and naturally, they are in a selling mode with their front line with the hoods up. Here is a pic of one of their smaller econoboxes called the Forenza - It a $15K sugg retail car and guess what? A FULL SIZED BATT RATED AT 610 CCA - that's for a 1.5 liter 4 banger:


The next car is all of 17k but sports a 2.0 liter 4 engine - It's a "SX-4" and has a 700 CCA Batt:


Get to wal-mart and buy a marine starting batt, if you can't afford an AGM ...., a bigger batt is not going to cause any warr problems and if you think the warranty police will get you when you go into the dealer, swap it all back before you go. Oh yeah, the other nice thing for you guys in cold climes is AGM's hold voltage perfectly down to -40 degrees. You can't kill 'em.Or you can wait for Honda to change the batt...not anytime soon, I'm sure.

couldn't give me an optima - seen many fail....3 high end boat builders have found the same thing and they can use anything they want.....everyone switching to odyssey's....if you want threads I'll post them here...

 

i use to run two Memphis pr 1.500, amps to 2 planet audio big bang double stacked dual coil "deep" subs, the box was 5 cu ft, i ran 4 12 inch ultra bright neons, 2 7.5 inch screens, and a touch screen, as well as 2 100w hella lights and 2 50 w fog lights, and my lowly 35w hids, and that battery could run it all with out any loss or flickering

i had to upgrade on my blaze casue the interstate battery would end up dying every single time

 

Hehe... still rockin the DieHard the previous owner put in... doesnt have any trouble cranking in -20* windchill weather.

Still rockin' the factory battery (It's been 6 years baby). Still rocking the 6 year old wipers. My factory tires lasted 5 years.

Then again, I have no intense sound or use the A/C very often.
