There is a recall on the head units on the 7th gens. Honda should replace with a reman unit or a new unit for free. I'm not sure about the malfunction indicator light coming on soon afterthough. Probably just a conincidence.

 

Just had my "malfunction indicator light" (looks light an engine) come on again. I took off the gas cap and tightened it back on and the light went out the next day.
