o2 Sensor and Loose Fuel Cap
Hi,
A little while back my odometer has a message "loose fuel cap" or something. But eventually the message went away. Then 2 weeks ago my check engine light came on. I had a diagnostic test, codes are P0457 and P0141 for a loose fuel cap and o2 sensor. The guy at autoozone said the loose fuel cap could be the reason for the o2 sensor reading. I'm pretty sure I tighten my fuel cap all the time. Am I missing something? How would I know if it is really the fuel cap or its the o2 sensor? What is the best fix?
My car:
2006 Accord
VP
86000 miles
Thanks

The DTC description is misleading. It can be a bad fuel cap (loose or leaking oring, check oring carefully or replace cap). If that doesn't fix the problem, there is a long diagnostic thread to run down where pressure leak is arising.
You will need a Honda Shop Manual to DIY.
good luck
