Default overheated 98 accord

Help!!! My daughter just overheated her accord pretty bad. How do you trouble shoot a head gasket besides taking the thing off and looking. I just need a little direction-Thanks

First, fix the leak or replace the thermostat to fix the overheating. Replace coolant and start engine. If engine starts and runs OK, maybe you got lucky.

A missing engine or blowing steamy, white smoke are common signals of failed head gasket. Coolant in oil, or oil in coolant are other possible symptoms.

You can also perform a coolant system pressure test or chemcal test for exhaust fumes in cooling system.

good luck
