Default Overheating

Hey honda guys my girlfriend has a 97 Honda accord with the 4cyl non vtec. It keeps boiling the water out of the overflow tank. I have already replaced the thermostat yesterday but it continues to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you done a coolant flush? You might have some stuff clogged up. Is the temp gauge reading where is overheating or is coolant just boiling out?

No I havnt done a flush, but I have to put water in everyday. I cannot find any leaks, and it's boiling out quite a bit from the overflow tube. The guage reads fine until it has boiled the majority out.

Do a coolant flush... If that doesn't help, it could be a water pump issue...

The same thing happened to me, i changed the thermostat and flushed the cooland at the end nothing worked. My problem was one of the fans was not working, check the fan if it does not start it may be the motor of the fan, u can buy it at any car store like auto zone or advance auto parts. Easy to install.

My wifes 01 Honda accord had the same problem. After changing the radiator, thermostat, and flushing the coolant system several times it finally started smoking just a little at the tailpipe. Check and see if the tailpipe is blowing any white smoke at all. Hopefully not but if it is it has a blown head gasket. I've been a mechanic for over 15yrs and her car is the first i've seen that ran smooth and without any indication of a blown head gasket until 6 months after the coolant problem. Good luck and I hope this helps.
