Hi, I am very bad in car mechanics and probably for most of you my question will seem stupid but is it possible to put 2001 Civic HX's engine into 1996 Accord? I just have my wrecked Civic in front of my house and it's engine was beautiful compared to Accord's. I know they are different and Civic's engine is almost half a liter smaller and Accord much bigger. I am just curious. Thank you.

 

dont quote me on it, but it would spin backwards, so it would require serious modification, but anything is possible if you have a plasma cutter and a welder!

 

There should be plenty of room in the Accord's engine bay for the smaller engine.

The Accord is much heavier. The Civic engine would be overwhelmed & overworked.

The structure around the front, and the engine mounts are probably in all the wrong places. So it would be really expensive to have someone fabricate a structure to hold the Civic engine.

The engine/transmission assembly participates in the structure during a crash. Installing an engine that's that much different might be a problem if you were in a serious collision.

Other than that...

 

Civic's D-series engine & Accord's F-series spin the same way as each other. Opposite from most of the rest of the world, but the same as each other.

 

I agree with the above. The Accord is way too heavy for that little civic engine. It would likely be trashed after 50k or so.
Buy a cheap Civic with no engine or a blown engine in it and swap the engine in there!
