Default Timing Belt Help

I have 109K miles on 99 LX 2dr 5-speed, its time to change the timing belt. I am trying to change as much as possible since I am already opening it up. So a new water pump, balancer belt, the seals that are in that area, not exactly sure what they are, oil seals of some kind. Plus what other things that could be changed? Also what things are prone to breakage when taking something apart that has 109K miles on it, anyone know from experience? Basically looking for indepth instructions and parts list for timing belt job. Thanks

Water pump is probably the most important thing to change out after the belt. The fins on the water pump wear down over time and can affect the cooling efficiency (less coolant pumping = less coolant cooling). Besides what you listed, there's not much else to change in that area. I want to say the oil pump is timing belt driven, but I'm not 100% sure, so seals on that are probably okay to change out.

Oil pump is driven directly off the crankshaft (not the belt). The oil pump forms the whole lower part of the front of the engine around the crankshaft. The crankshaft front main seal is actually in the oil pump which is in turn bolted to the block.

I wouldn't mess with the oil pump unless the front main seal is leaking or the oil pressure is not correct.

don't touch the oil pump unless you absolutely have to... timing belt is a must... how are the spark plugs?

Hey, when you decide to buy those parts, I suggest you a great place http://www.hondapartsnow.com , it is the cheapest one I have seen on the net.

Honda dealer said they don't change seals if they're not leaking. I was told by a non Honda mehcanic shop thati might have a leak from one of the seals, and they replace all the seals in the area when they do timing belt job. I am doing this one myself though, well the family mechanic is. He works on Audi's , he did his Accord around 5 years ago, lets hope he remebers what to do. [&:]
