every once and a while I am locked in park. per manual I unlock it but it says to get it checked out this is a signal of more problems. what problems are they referring to and what is the best plan of action

 

It may be as simple as a flaky switch at the brake pedal. Next time it happens, check to see whether your brake lights are working. (Same switch)

Search around here (& General Tech board) for shift interlock threads.

 

or, it could be a fuse, please add to ur signature the moder year and trim of ur car (look at mine)... since i don't know which accord u own, i will just let u know than for my car, the same fuse for the tanny is used for the horn and cruise control, so if those don't work as well then it's a fuse...
