Default 04 accord v6 steering pump rattling

Hello all. I hear a rattling noise that I suspect the steering pump is causing. I wondering if its possible to grease the ball bearing behind the circled nut in the attached picture. Will the whole thing come apart if I try to unscrew the nut?

Thanks!

Check your PS fluid? Is it foamy? If yes, the rattling may be air getting in to the suction side fitting on the PS pump. An oring replacement will usually fix air leak. I just had to do this on Acura MDX w/ 3.5L V6 yesterday. The noise is a hissing, rattling that gets worse when you turn steering wheel.

The nut you indicated can be removed but PS pulley is pressed on and requires a puller to remove. No need to remove PS pulley if replacing pump.

Get a shop manual for your car to avoid mistakes.

good luck
