Unhappy 06 Accord V6 fluid leak. Help!

I began feeling a very slight shudder when the car transitions between first and second gear. My mechanic checked it out and said there was a small transmission fluid leak by the torque converter, but he doesn't have the equiptment to fix Honda transmissions. Money is tight and just wondering if anyone might have a ballpark idea what it may cost me to fix? In the meantime, can I skate by for a while just keeping an eye on the fluid levels and replacing as needed? I am normally really on top of repairs and not neglectful, but money is tight right now. Help!

I went to a Honda dealership and deliberatley did not tell them I knew what was wrong to see what they'd say. After having the car for two hours, they couldn't find the issue that my regular mechanic found in 30 minutes (who I trust and have known for years). I was also fed up with some really bad customer service during my time there so I got fed up and told them I couldn't wait any longer. They were going to charge me $150 just for an estimate but I was told over the phone it was a free estimate. There were some other issues too. Guess I might have to suck it up and go back to Honda. (sigh....) Hopefully this time around I'll find those legendary "Helpful Honda guys"

If a mechanic spends time on your car he needs to get paid from someone and they hate warranty work as their flat rate time is greatly discounted for Honda’s. A lot of times the service advisor will take it for a ride.
