1992 accord clicking from dash

Default 1992 accord clicking from dash

92 accord,clicking sound from dash,like a relay,some indicator lights blink,and D and P on gear selector light at same time.i have been told it is main relay,but i have read other post that say main relay only affects starting.any help or suggestions.i dont want to pay 55.00 for relay and thats not the problem.thanks

Main relay enables fuel pump to run. If you're not having starting problems, problem is likely elsewhere.

Your symptoms suggest the transmissiong gear selection switch may be faulty. There is a shift interlock solenoid in the console that clicks when brake is pressed to enable gear shift lever movement.

You might check brake lights to be sure they are not intermittently going on/off, which would cause interlock solenoid to repeatedly open/close.

You may need to remove/clean/replace the trans selection switch.
