1993 Accord rotor replacement.. Axle nuts??
#21
You guys are helpful as hell - thanks!!

If you tightened the axle nut down and punched it, it will not move and you should be set.
The 4 bolts in the back of the knuckle holding in the bearing are 33 ft-lb, so you torqued them pretty close to specs.
You should be all set.

Is it just me or have you guys heard that you shouldn't reuse the axle nuts? At least for my 89 model you're not supposed to. They are considered one use items. the replacement nuts are ~$3.75 per side from rock auto. I bought them along with lower ball joints and upper control arms.

Yes, you're supposed to use new ones each time.
But I've re-used them & not had a problem. It sorta depends on how much they're chewed up from being staked into the groove on the axle stub.
But they're not very expensive to get new ones.

I know how much I appreciate being appreciated and I know it only happens 1 in 10 times you do something for someone

I meant to ask about re-using them because I had also read that ... I was able to punch them both in on a fresh spot so I think they're fine ... But if you people tell me to go and get the new ones, I will, because I am not the expert here

Well, generally you should get new ones; the service manual say that. However, for the most part, you can re-use them with no problem. Most mechanics I know re-use them without problems. I never seen a mechanic put on a new one, unless I brought them one.

Okay and I don't imagine putting anti seize on the two pieces we had the horrible time getting apart is a problem? We also put some on the spindle that goes through the wheel on one side because it was a bitch getting the first one back on
