Default 1996 Honda Accord EX 2.2 4cyl no cruise control

I have a 1996 Honda Accord 2.2 4 with a brand new instrument cluster (out of a 94) as my speedometer did not work. The speedometer works now and when I push the cruise control button it lights up but it doesn't not light up on the instrument cluster. I hold the set button down and it lights up for a second AFTER I let off the set button. My check engine light is on because of the EGR valve. Could this be why it won't work? Any ideas? Thank you!!

Welcome to HAF.

I've moved this to general tech for better answers

Check the brake light switch - it has "three" positions.

1- Brake lights on
2- what I call no mans land - brake lights off, no continuity to crusie control
3 - Continuity to cruise control.

Be sure you have continuity across two of the pins on the brake light switch with out the pedal being pushed.

Is this and auto or manual trans?

Thanks for the tip! It is an automatic transmission.

Again check the switch - most common issue.

If that tests out let us know and we can get into more testing.

EDIT: Was it working before the work?
