1997 Accord EX ABS issue
Howdy, New owner here. Just picked up my 97 Accord EX. 116K on the clock. What it's doing is the ABS system is clicking (almost like the sound of a AC compressor that's low on freon) from time to time and the ABS light comes on. This don't happen all the time just once in a while. I was talking to my mech. and he didn't seem to concerned about it. He said it can be a expensive repair and or a cheap one depending on the issue with it. I was wondering what you guys thought the best way to approach this issue. My mech. was saying you just don't have ABS when the light comes on but he didn't seem like it was a big deal. Thanks for any and all tips and pointers!

RE: 1997 Accord EX ABS issue
Short the service check connector (blue 2-wire connector under glove box), turn ignition switch ON (after ABS light has illuminated), and read flashes of ABS light. Flashes are allshort (< 1 sec) flashes w/ a 1-2 sec pause between 1st & 2nd code number. Code 14 = f-p-ffff. Post your code and we should be able to provide a solution.
I've repaired this ABS system on my daughter's 97 Acura 2.2CL (same as Accord). Worst case is you need a replacement modulator. You can find used modulators for < $100. Common fault is leaking from the modulator body plugs allowing fluid in reservoir to leak too low, which sets ABS Off and illuminates ABS.
good luck
