Hi Everyone,
It's my first post here, and it's my first honda I own. I've got a few questions here.
First thing is when I go to lock my doors(They're power locks), I can lock all doors except the drivers door automatically. If I read correctly in my manual, this is what the car should do. Now my problem is not with locking them, but getting the darn things unlocked! I put the key in the drivers door and it either doesn't want to move side to side to lock, or un-lock them sometimes or the key won't even go in all of the way. After I try, and most of the time fail at getting in on the drivers door, I'll walk around to the passengers door and try a second attempt. I either get it un-locked, or they key will go in all of the way, but won't turn to either side. I know I live in Canada and the weather gets pretty cold, but this happens in very mild(+ weather), too! I guess the question I'm asking is what the heck should I be looking for that could be wrong? I come from a little pickup that nothing was power on it, so I'm new to this type of work.
My second question is when I turn the car on, I have an indicator light turn on. This only happens once in awhile. It's spelt DRL and shows in orange. It shows up right under my oil and battery light on the left side of the cluster beside my tach. When this light turns on, my high beam headlight indicator light is also on, but slightly dim. I flick my lights on with the switch, and they both go away. If I don't turn my lights on, the indicator light usually turns off within a few km's of driving. I looked in my manual to see what this DRL means, but can't find anything. The only thing I could assume is 'daytime running lights'. I'm fine with that, but how come the indicator light is on sometimes, but sometimes not?
I thank you in advance for the replies!

Door lock problem sounds like either a defective key (too worn), damaged or sticking lock. Try some graphite lube or perhaps a new cut key from Honda.
Can't help w/ DRL.
good luck

You're right that it's daytime running lights. But we didn't get DRLs in USA that year. Anyone with a '97 Helm manual probably can find a circuit drawing for the DRL system but I don't have one.
