Default 1998 Honda Accord LX

I have frequently visited this forum when my girlfriends car has had issues, I've now come to ask a question and see if I can get an opinion for her. Any feedback would be tremendously appreciated.

Over the last two days she had a friend work on her 98 Accord LX, replacing the heater core initially along with a general tune up. Air filter, fluids, etc. Well, as these things go, her radiator ended up needing replaced as well.

She got it back today along with a half a dozen more issues that have us stumped. The power locks were no longer working when they had never been an issue before. I attempted the trick with the intermittent windshield wipers, and it worked but only for the passenger side. So only the power locks work on the passenger side.

The power windows no longer work as well, except for the drivers side widow and switch. All other three switches on the driver's side do not work, nor do the switches for each other window throughout the car.

The vehicle now as well, when you go to shut the vehicle off and take out the keys, the engine and car will still run for a count of up to three seconds before the engine and rest of the vehicle turn off. It does not do it every time, but you can literally turn the car off, have the keys out of the ignition, and sit for a second and the car will then turn off.

SRS message is constantly displaying on the dash as well.

**Edit: I forget to add. The shifter will no longer shift out of park into other gears as well. The brake switch was replaced, but it will not shift without the use of the little shift release button.

I hope I was able to explain that all well enough. I'm taking a good guess and say that we'll have to go to either an electronics place and have them mess with it or take it the dealership.

Can you list everything that was done to the vehicle?

When a lot of problems happen at once right after work is done on your car, I would suspect a wiring problem like a harness pinched/damaged or a disconnected ground. Also the fuses.

Start simple and disconnect the battery. Clean all ends of both battery cables using a wire brush or sandpaper. Take a look around the radiator and look for damaged/disconnected/improperly routed wiring.

After that, check all the fuses. Your car has fuses under the hood and on both passenger and driver's side of the dash. A quick way to test fuses is with a test light. Below is a good video on how to do this.

Also, use a volt meter to test for voltage across the battery when the engine is not running and also when the engine is running.

Question 1998 Honda Accord LX A/C Compressor Bearing

Hi I have a 1998 Honda Accord and I've been working on it and recently I've been having a scraping/ rattling noise coming from my A/C Compressor. From what I've read and found out is that this it is either the clutch the pully or the bearing (or more than one). But unfortunately I'm having troubles finding what size what brand and all of that of a bearing i need to fix it. I would just replace the entire A/C compressor as its seen better days but those are $100+ same with clutch.
Any help is appreciated.

I think you first need to figure out if the noise is coming from inside the compressor or from one of the pulleys.

And then you should let us know whether it's a 4-cyl or a V-6 engine.

So to start. I used the thing that hold up my hood and out it against all the parts of the pulley system to find where the house is coming from. The noise was coming from the ac compressor. So we at least know that. As for where exactly in the compressor? Not 100% but I'm fairly certain it's the bearing just because of the type of noise I'm hearing and because of some input I've had from other experienced friends. And for your second question I have the 1998 Honda Accord LX 4d 4 cyl.

Supposedly you can get the pulley (actually it's called the "clutch set").
It's #10 in the picture, but still a couple hundred $.

I don't remember seeing anyone post about replacing the bearings out of that pulley, but who knows?
