Default 1999 Accord coupe EX help

Thinking about purchasing one at the local second hand lot. Test drove it and it runs very well. 148k 4 cylinder.

My biggest concern was that the check engine light was on. I had the owner check the code with his computer and the codes all had something to do with the sensor detecting a timing error on the pistons. ( cant remember the specific terminology )

When I drove it the engine sounded fine and had no hesitation or irregularities what so ever. The engine also looked in very good condition and well maintained.

My question: Is this a big deal? Could it be something major or just a quick fix? Should I avoid this car like the plague? ( he is asking only 3750 and the car is in EXCELLENT shape exterior and interior )

Any help or knowledge of the issue will be greatly appreciated!

Well i would try to get him down to 3k 1st.
And for that year with those kinda miles is very good! and if you do buy it i would change the timing belt and adjust the valves when done.
I have a 93 Accord LX with 280k miles there very good cars as long as they are taken care of

If you give us the exact code (like P1234), then we can give you a better idea of what is causing the CEL to turn on.
