Default 2000 accord oil pan leak

car is a 2000 accord 4 cyl auto

looks like oil is leaking from the oil pan. I have some RTV high temp silicon gasket i was going to try to re-seal it with. How hard is it to drop the oil pan. Looks like the exhaust manifold would possibly have to be removed at the head to allow room to pull the pan down. And then there is also the transmission or some sort of bracket that is overlapping some of the oil pan bolts. Let me know if anyone has done this. I'm gonna make sure the leak isn't coming from another location. I suppose I could also try to just tighten the bolts a bit, but I can't get at them all with the trans in the way. Thanks.

If it is like my 95, I had to remove the exhaust pipe, the flywheel cover on the transmission, and the cross-member that has my jacking point on it.

It wasn't that bad of a job. I think there is a writeup in the DIY section by deserthonda about doing the oil pan gasket.

Starting in 1998 the pan doesn't have a gasket. You clean it & seal it with HondaBond (Permatex Ultra Grey).

I would verify it is the pan and not the rear main. Is the leak where the oil pan meets the trans

It was mostly running down the timing chain cover, so yea that side of the pan. I took the cover off and tightened the few bolts that were pretty loose. I got degreaser and cleaned everything up and i will see how bad it gets in a few days.
