Default 2000 Honda Accord LX

I own and am the original owner of a 2000 Honda Accord LX with 190,000 miles. The front wheel bearings and the suspension flex ball joints (as well as the front brakes) need to be replaced for a total cost of $1,298 at the dealership. Please note, the transmission was replaced under warranty at 85,000 miles. Is the car worth repairing? I am concerned that the bearings and the suspension flex joints may be a sign the car is rusted. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

If I decide to repair and keep the car, I am looking at a major tune up and timing belt replacement next year. Are all of these repairs worth it, or should I cut my losses and buy a new Honda Accord now?!
Thank you,
monica

In general, repairs will be less costly than a new car.

However, what is your tolerance for repairs, which will certainly be necessary? If you want that "new car experience" and are willing to pay, that's what you should do.

I would suggest getting additional assessments and quotes for wheel bearing and ball joints. The quoted price seems high to me.

Even if you pay the quoted price + another $1000 for Timing Belt & Tuneup, you're still have only invested a $2300, perhaps 6-9 months of car payments.

good luck

Before you decide, I would suggest having the whole car thoroughly checked over to see what else may be wrong with it. If it is in fact rusted, that should weigh into your decision. 190k is a lot of miles, so you might be better off selling it or trading it in depending on the car's condition.
