Default 2002 Accord Diagnosis Help

Hello everyone! Glad to be apart of the forum... new to these things but i like em

Anyways here's the scoop...

My girlfriend has a 2002 Accord SE (auto tranny) that just hit the 100k mile marker. Great little gal and has been a champ for as long as she's owned it. Very reliable etc etc. Well over the past i'd say about ~10,000 miles or so, almost everytime you put her in drive she likes to kick. Sometimes a whole lot harder than others, and its beginning to get a lot harder to pretend its not there like it doesn't happen at all lol. My knowledge about cars is very basic... noobish plain and simple. So here i am guys turnin to you for some help. Is this a situation that can possibilty be a big issue in the future or an easy fix? It would help me out greatly to get some good knowledge about this and definitely make the old lady happy! Thanks in advance guys anything helps!

Does the D4 light start flashing? If so, stop by a parts store and have the codes scanned.

When was the last time the transmission fluid was changed?

The 98-02 accords were known to have premature transmission failures due to a design problem. The V6 seems more frequent than the 4 cylinder, so be aware.

If you change the ATF, be aware that Honda auto trans doesn't like "power-flushing". Just drain & fill.

No D4 light flashing thankfully.
I was planning to change the TFluid today i bought a few quarts last night.
She has the 4 cyl so hopefully we're in luck with nothing failing on us!

Some shops will hook up hoses from a machine with a pump & a big reservoir of ATF. It pumps ATF through your trans under pressure. Maybe a good thing for some cars, but Honda auto-trans doesn't seem to like that procedure.

Watch the fluid that drains out. If it's dirty, then buy 6 more quarts of ATF. Your torque converter doesn't drain, so you really can only drain about 1/3 of the total fluid. So IF it's dirty, then drain/fill it a couple more times after driving a few days inbetween to mix it all up.
