Default 2002 apply brakes and check engine light comes on!!

We have switched out gas caps, as this was the original code when check engine light first came on. Got Walmart cap and it eventually went away and then came back on.

Got Honda cap and it went away. Came back on ,then went away. Now back on again, and we think that it now is triggered by applying the brakes. For sure it came on the time before this when I applied the brakes. My wife thinks that last night it came on when she too applied the brakes.

The advance store just read it as the same thing, leak in fuel system, either a gas cap or we need to do a smoke leak test. Code stayed on after I left the store.

A repair facility I use, JRs, then checked it for me, and said the same thing, BUT when I left there the check engine light was gone. This happened the very first time JRs checked this, the light was gone after they checked the code.

Are they clearing the code? I'll try to go back and get the code when it comes on again.

Some parts stores such as Autozone will read the trouble code for free. Get the actual trouble code and post it.

There's quite a few codes that, after they are cleared, it takes some number of starts & drives before the same code comes back.
