Default 2003 EX-L CD Changer Problems

A few months ago while on a weekend vacation, one of the CDs started skipping. I've had this happen before and it has always been that the disc had gotten dirty. As I've done before, I ejected it, cleaned it and loaded it back in. It whirled a while and then I got an disc error message. The CD function never worked again on that trip. When I got home, I searched here and found others with similar issues. I tried various ideas I found here and the one that worked was pulling the fuse to reset the radio unit. That got the system working again. Sort of. I have six CDs in there and I can play each normally. But I cannot eject any of them. If I try, it eventually gives up, displays the error, and I have to reset the unit again. I'm going to get really tired of these six CDs.

Any ideas to get the unit working fully again?

Thanks

Tom

Here is a thread covering your topic:

Alpine made those units, and I know that somewhere on here I posted a number where you could call and get information on sending that unit back to them for repair. It was much cheaper than buying a new one. Here is that thread:
