It wasn't the ignition switch, It's an internal radio problem, Read post 19

The ignition switch is an assembly where you insert the key to start the car. The electrical portion is removable, so you can replace if contacts get worn out. Look on youtube for people that replace the electrical portion of the ignition switch on accords. There are several videos out there on this topic for Hondas.

I thought it may have been the ignition switch, had it changed but but that wasn't the problem.
Is there a relay that turns on the accessory position of the ignition switch?
Thank you, poolman

I put in a used radio and the problem seems to be fixed.
Is there somewhere I can send the original radio to be repaired? Thanks for all the help.

This generation is known to have issues with the stock head unit. Only real way to solve it is to use an aftermarket head unit, install a radio kill switch, or pull the radio fuse out when you get out of the car.

This has been an intermittent issue with this car which I bought in 2014. What might I expect to pay for a radio kill switch? Any idea? I am not a young person and have difficulty moving this body around into small spaces. :-)

The easiest and cheapest way to get a kill switch is to determine the fuse you need to pull.

You can purchase a fused kill switch that plugs into the fuse. No splicing and plug and play. Search ebay with the line below to see what I'm talking about.
12"-100" Automotive Switched Fuse Switch For Mini 10A &15A Fuse WIth wire New

Just make sure you get the fuse adapter for the correct pin size. Im not sure if your accord uses mini or micro fuses.

You could also make this as well. It is a fuse connector where you put a fuse and a kill switch into the wire loop.

Thank you so much for the reply. It is really helpful. I think a friend will come over tomorrow and take my battery and charge it. It would seem that we need to determine what the culprit is, though. He may have a multimeter. We'll see.
