That's correct @redbull.
But Honda has no manufacturing plant here, so the car can't be Nigerian. 😂
And I'm not the first owner, so....

Even easier: Can you post the first 12 numbers on your VIN? That should provide all the information on the accord you have.
Thanks.
Points noted.

My car has no DRL indicator. This I have checked. Found none.

VIN is 1HGCM56855A0xxxxx.
I checked this on some VIN decoder websites; they say vehicle was manufactured in Ohio.

Please let me know what info you get from it.

Your car was Made in Ohio, 4-door automatic with 2.2L engine. EX-L or EX-L SULEV. 2005. US model. Is the driver's seat on the left side of the car when you are sitting in the driver's seat (like US vehicles)?

Your accord shouldn't have daytime running lights, but maybe Nigeria requires them?

Go to ebay and search this part number so you know what the DRL control unit looks like: 38260-SDA-A01.

That DRL control module is inside the car behind the driver's dash. It would be behind where the switch for the sunroof and/or VSA disable switch to the left of the steering wheel. Just look to see if you have that module.

Thank you.
Yes. It's 2.4L, EX-L LEV (but not SULEV). 2005 model.
Yes, driver seat is at the left side of the car (so I move the gear lever using my right hand).

I also didn't expect it to have DRL but I have surprisingly seen the DRL work sometimes (about 10 times in the last 2 years).
No, my country doesn't have any specific requirements for daytime running lights.

About 38260-SDA-A01, I've looked into that.
My car doesn't have that under the dash. I only have a module for the cruise control there. No DRL unit there.

I agree that you would want to leave it alone for now. If the lights being on becomes a problem, then you can work on some electrical troubleshooting.

Thanks @PAhonda for your time and responses.

Actually, I'll like to have it on a lot more. I like the looks. 😀
But yes, I'll have to leave it for now, since everything else works fine.

Thanks to everyone too (redbull-1, Seanjordan20) for your contributions. All were really helpful.

Best regards,

Drove out today.
High beams automatically came on at noon.

Conditions when 50% high beams came on:
- Weather was cloudy.
- It drizzled a little.
- Low ambient temperature (I could feel the cool breeze when I wound down the windshield. Didn't remember to check the actual value on the dashboard).
- AC was on (had been on for about 30mins prior).
- Turned on wipers in intermittent mode. (cos it drizzled).

I have also observed that whenever it comes on, it stays on until I turn on and off the high beams (not low beams). Also, vehicle speed isn't a factor.

Now, I think that for certain non-Canadian accords, (probably only 2005 accords) that the high beams were designed to operate when certain conditions exist, such as would indicate poor visibility.

Anyone with a 2005 accord EX who has had a similar experience should please share. (or should this be in a separate thread??)

Researching further, I discovered there has been an existing law in Ohio stating that motorists turn on their headlights whenever it rains and/or when the wipers are turned on.

It's possible that Honda incorporated this automatically in some accords. (especially the 2005's; as it became a law in 2004).

I guess I just need to narrow down to the actual triggers or trigger conditions.

No, Honda did not incorporate it into 2005 U.S.A. Accords. DRL was added to U.S.A. Accords starting with model year 2006.

2006 U.S.A. model Accords also had the DRL control unit under the dash, which you previously indicated you could not find.

This is a photo image of the control unit and location.
