I have a 2007 Accord EX V6. Covered about 35,000 miles. Despite claims of great reliability for these vehicles, I have had a few problems.

Heated passenger mirror quit
Cruise control quit
Front end vibration and noise (undiagnosed as yet - new tires did not fix)

Latest problem is that my windshield washer suddenly quit working. Not been used a lot over the years. Bottle is full, wipers work, but washers do not. I don't hear a noise when I activate it, so I suspect that the pump is not working.

A couple of questions

Firstly, where is the pump loacated and how do I gain access to it ?

Secondly, looking online there seem to be several brands of pumps available for about $20 - is any brand better than another ?

I found a few references that said to gain access via the wheel well and inner fender. Sounds like a labor intensive and dirty job. Seems to me that just removing the tank would be easier.

I have ordered a Trico replacement ($20). Honda dealers wanted at least $60 for OEM part. Given that the OEM part did not last long I figure I don't have much to lose.

Will probably trade this car on a Toyota later this year - despite the hype I have found the Honda to be problematic - though it does handle well and the engine runs smooth. Just too many electrical problems.

 

Really not that bad to get in there, dirty part will only be getting the tire off....after that there are some small screws for the inner wheel well......

Actually, I did not check fuses - don't even know where they are or which relates to the pump even if I found them. Wiper work OK - does the pump have its own fuse ?

 

1. For the washer, the first to check should have been the fuse, it should be the no. 20 (7.5A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse box. The motor rarely goes bad, as it is not used often.

If the fuse is okay, then move on to checking for blockage in the tube or the motor. The motor can be checked after getting access to it. You would remove the 2-P connector and then can apply direct power to the motor side; for your car, either the pin 1 is to power (+) and 2 is ground (-) or the opposite. If applying power, only apply power briefly; otherwise, you will burn out the motor even if it was good.

2. For the cruise control, is there a Check Engine Light? Even if there is no check engine light, the car should be checked for trouble codes with an OBD-II reader/scanner. If no codes, the fuses under the hood and the dash should be checked.

3. For the mirror, does the directional controls work (i.e., up-down, side-to-side) or is it only the heater in the mirror?

4. For the front end noise and vibration. Does it occur only at certain speeds; if so, at around what speeds? Is it only from one side? Just a guess; but, it could also be due to a bad wheel bearing.

The front end noise seems to come from passenger side, so perhaps a bad wheel bearing on that side. Electric mirror works, just no heat/defrast.

The cruise control is a defective switch - if I hold the steering wheel switch for the CC down it will work, but when i realease the switch it stops working. This is the master CC control switch that changes mnode each time you press it (on - off). Seems to me that it will need a new switch.

As I say, this lightly used behicle has had a lot of problems - primarily electrical

 

I just checked every 7.5 A fuse in there, all OK. Must be a pump problem. I checked fluid hoses and no kinks.
