Default 2008 Accord 4 cal Oil Consumption Recall

I received a recall notice for excessive oil consumption on my 08 Accord, 4 cylinder. At 90k, I noticed the oil down a quart and 1000 miles since the change, and brought it up to the dealer who said, 'no news on that front, haven't heard anything about it." Now at 105k, got a recall notice 2 weeks ago, that covers the car up to 8 years and 125k. The protocol is I go in for an oil change (my expense), and return every 500 miles for a check. Continue until 5000 miles. They then report usage to Honda who will then determine if my car's consumption is excessive. No where in the recall notice is that defined. When I asked 3 different service techs at the dealer, they all said "we don't know." I pushed it and said c'mon, you are doing a recall and no one can define what excessive is? All are at a loss...

So, I get to stop in for an hour 10 times to see if my car has an issue. I will keep you posted, but wanted to let you know about the recall as the info I have found on the forum has been silent on this.

I am 2500 miles into it, and down 0.5 quarts. Strange, saw higher consumption earlier, but think this will end with the burn rate being normal. Why a change? Even I have a hard time arguing that less that a quart in between oil changes is excessive. If something changes, I will let the forum know.

I went to the dealer after I received the same notice on my 09 Accord 4 cyl. I paid for an oil change and have been monitoring the oil level every 500 miles. At 2500 miles I checked the oil again (yesterday) and am now down 1/2 quart. Sounds like your experience.

Does that consumption sound reasonable to the rest of you?

I had a similar experience with my 2010 accord but the dip stick was so low, the light popped on on a hill. I checked and about an 1/4 inch on the stick of oil. They made me change the oil at the dealership and they overfilled it, so that it now is at the spot where the bend starts on the stick or way 1/2 inch above the full mark or hole, with directions to bring it in every 1000 miles to check and have it topped off. I am quite sure since they overfilled it it will not read there is a problem with oil consumption, it will be at the full mark by then and they will say it is perfect. No oil burned. I am beyond frustrated with this and seeking legal counsel to resolve or start a class action, who's in?
